私は、作物の歴史とヒトがこれらを利用した歴史を知り、その関係から文明社会の成り立ちを考えたいという問いを持っています。専門としては、ゲノム情報を取得する次世代シーケンシング、それらを解析するバイオインフォマティクス、さらに集団遺伝学、古代ゲノミクスといった手法を活用しています。これらの技術からの知見と、考古学、民俗学やその他の科学分析など多様な研究者と協働する学際的な研究により問いに挑戦しています。また、さまざまな品種あるいは失われた過去の多様性を含めた、ゲノム情報基盤を構築することで、農研機構の進めるゲノム育種や気候変動下における作物の環境適応など農業分野への貢献を目指しています。
I am seeking to understand the history of crops, and the history of how humans have utilized them, and from this relationship, contemplate the foundation of civilized society. My expertise lies in next-generation sequencing, which obtains genomic information, bioinformatics for analyzing this data, and methods such as population genetics and ancient genomics. I address my question through insights gained from these technologies, along with interdisciplinary research in collaboration with researchers from various fields such as archaeology, folklore, and other scientific analyses. Additionally, by establishing a genomic information base that includes various cultivars and the lost diversity of the past, I aim to contribute to agriculture through initiatives such as genomic breeding promoted by NARO and the environmental adaptation of crops under climate change.
自分自身の好奇心に耳を傾けて面白いと思う研究を追求し、オープンマインドでさまざまな分野の研究者と交流し協働することで、気づいたらボーダーを超えていたというような姿勢で研究を進めていきたいと考えています。また、専門であるゲノム情報のインフラ化を進め、誰かがどこかでボーダーを越えることの手助けができたらと思います。
I want to pursue research that I find interesting by listening to my own curiosity, and by being open-minded and interacting and collaborating with researchers from various fields, I hope to one day realize that I have crossed boundaries. Additionally, I aim to advance the infrastructure of genomic information, which is my area of expertise, and hope that I can help someone, somewhere, to cross their own boundaries.
